Basic Info

This class is Synchronous (meaning you see me lecture in real time twice a week on campus) with small online quizzes due every week, and larger writing assignments you submit to Canvas periodically. Attendance is taken and Class Participation noted. Outside of class, you will read textbook chapters and lecture powerpoints assigned that week, then take weekly quizzes on the units. On top of that, there are Online Discussions, a Midterm, an Opinion Paper, and a Final Exam. All assignments, written discussions and exams are online. Class is paperless. No-cost textbooks.
Class meets MW 3:05-4:20PM in classroom KH B111.
Office Hours (in person): MW 11AM-12PM, in the Engineering & Technology Building (E&T) A520, phone (323) 343-2683. Or by Zoom appointment made by email.

Class Communication and Feedback Guidelines
Contacting the Professor.: You can email Prof. Beamer at any time, and you'll get a response usually within 24 hours on weekdays, or by Monday on weekends. I am better reached by email than via Canvas messaging.
"Netiquette": Rules for how to communicate with one another are best described in the Syllabus (see link for download above). The basic rule is: Be civil to one another and don't troll. More in the Syllabus.
Turnaround on Assignments: I am teaching six classes this semester, and I am the only one grading. On rare occasions (usually multiple class grading crunches), it might take a week. I generally grade everything in real time (meaning you get the grade right after I decide it) and take questions about it after I finish grading everyone. Please be patient.
